Monday 7/8

Blog 78.
Sunday is often called a day of rest. Too often it is just the opposite. Silas left Sunday completely unscheduled. It did not work out exactly as planned. Ryan thought it would  be a good time to finish the gate at the church. We went down in the morning with Silas to do that. On the way back I remembered that the blue gate coming into the yard needed some repair. I spent some frustrating time without success. . Lunch was served at Silas' brother's house. Their property adjoins his and the yards are contiguous. Sally was our hostess along with Silas' stepmom. As with every Kenyan home we have visited the hospitality was so gracious.  I went back to work on the gate with more frustration. After giving up I started to make an easel for Ann to use with her flannel board. A man named David stopped in and soon we were working together with a little English and a lot of charades. The wood I was using had been whitewashed so my hands were white at the end. Before turning it over to Ann I thoroughly scrubbed it. By then I needed a thorough scrubbing and after that a nap. Ann and Ryan spent some time in the afternoon preparing for lessons scheduled to begin today.  Dinner was not served until late and after a short time of conversation we all turned in.
