Monday July 15

Blog 715
It is now Monday morning after a long weekend. Brian was going to do the post but we cannot get him connected to the Internet. Many things are on their way but we need to get some better connections.  I came to the school this morning to help get the new printer going to get things printed that Brian needed last week. So far we have not been able to get anything to work.  I thought at least I would be a will to post some pictures when I got here my phone said no service. What's the solution for all these problems turn it off and turn it back on again. Suddenly I had five bars and I'm all set to go.
To quickly review the weekend Saturday was a day of worship. I talked the Sunday school class on Genesis chapter 24. One of the African pastors preached the Sunday morning service. And of course we enjoyed the music immensely. The service ended with us singing in English and them singing in Callingen Pass  me not oh gentle Savior. Several churches were gathered together for that service. A business meeting was scheduled next. When I finished the church picnic was planned. The cooking was done next door at Mary's. Huge pans of rice and beans made up the menu and of course a huge pot of Kenyan tea was brewed to top it off. In deference to our weak stomachs we were invited inside Mary's for our version of the same meal. Of course we went outside for fellowship and Ann helped do some of the dishes. The ladies questioned Gladys as to why she would let Ann ever do dishes. After the business meeting and the picnic we had another service and Ryan brought the message. Then it was back to Silas' for a nap, afternoon tea and a late supper.
With Saturday being our worship day Sunday is really a day of rest. We had a late breakfast and left around noon time to go to Gladys's parents house. It was probably no more than five or 10 miles across the countryside but with the road conditions it took nearly an hour.   Of course wherever we go people stare and children run out to wave. The sight of a white family in the back of the pick up truck riding along the road is equal to having the Sunday Parade. We are so humbled by the hospitality and the gifts that are given to us in the way we are treated with such deference. This weekend was the first time you're able to convince Silas and his family to go first around the buffet table. The trip home actually had everyone huddled in their jackets because it was rather chilly. I happened to be riding up front so I shared my jacket with somebody in the back. Supper featured one of Silas's favorite dishes from America namely stirfry. We all turned in early to get ready for a new day of school today. Thank you for your continuing interest we do get our email here if you want to email us. This blog has been dictated to my phone and may have some typos which I hope you will forgive. God bless you all.
